IntroductionEmail is a means of communication whereby messages are distributed electronically from the author to one or a group of recipients via Internet or Network connected computers. Also spelled as e-mail, email is an acronym of Electronic mail. Emails are created by senders/authors and distributed to their respected recipients intentionally like traditional letters or postal mails, with the difference being Email messages are distributed from one computer to another in form of soft copy. In fact, anyone can communicate with any person regardless of the distance from the author to an intended recipient through Email Technology. But both the email author and recipient must have email accounts and registered email addresses or IDs as well as internet connected devices. Webmail and Email client accountsA webmail account is a web-based email account run by a website. Normally, in order for a person to create an email account, he or she must have a computer or mobile device with internet connection. The most popularly used webmail service providers include Yahoo mail, Gmail and Hotmail. To create an email account on any of these websites, you simply launch your internet/web browser and type its URL or web address on the browser's address bar. The Gmail screen in Compose mode You can also have an email account where your emails are stored on an internet-connected computer, laptop, tablet or any other kind of Computer. This is different from web mail account discussed above. But you must use a special software typically known as an 'Email Client'. There are a lot of email client software programs that help computer users to manage their emails, including Microsoft Outlook, Apple mail, Thunderbird, IBM Lotus Notes, etc. What is an Email address?An email address is simply a unique name assigned for a specific email account. Usually, an e-mail address must be formed in a standard format, which means it must contain the user name, an @ (at) symbol as well as a domain name which host that email account. Look an example of an email address below: somebodyelse@domainname.com On our example above you can see how the email address is formed. somebodyelse is a user name. You can choose to use your really name or nickname as your e-mail user name. After the username there is an @ (at) symobol which is used to separate the username and the email service provider's domain name. The last part of an email address is a domain name, a name of a website/email service provider that host all your emails and allows you do a variety of tasks related to email issues. If you selected to use kilaza as your email username in google mail/gmail, then your email address would look like this: kilaza@gmail.com Note that, as it's to websites that they are made up of unique URLs (web addresses), E-mail addresses are unique too, which means there is no duplication of email addresses. During the email account sign up/registration you may get error message(s) telling you that the user name you entered cannot be accepted because someone has already created an email account with the similar username in that email service provider you want to register to. If that happens, try picking up different terms to see if they are not already taken by other users. You are ought to type your email address in lowercase (small letters) and you are allowed to combine different kinds of characters such as Numerals, alphabets and some of the punctuation marks especially underscore and colon.
