Right click or right clicking is a process of pressing and releasing once the right button of the mouse. Normally, it helps us perform different tasks such as renaming or deleting files, folders and programs' shortcuts as well as formatting text in word processing programs such as WordPad, Microsoft Word, etc.

Note that when you want to right click on something on the screen, you have to place the pointer first on that object so that the computer knows about what you are dealing with. For instance if you want to delete a folder or file, you have to point on it first, and then right click on it to display the menu of options.

The commands on the pop-up menu displayed after right clicking, differs from one object to another. For example when you right click on the folder icon, you'll see a lot of commands than when you right click on the Recycle bin icon.

What can I use Right Clicking for?

As I said above, right clicking plays an important role in manipulating data in the computer system. You can open a file by simply right clicking its Icon, then you select the Open command from the menu.

You can also open the Windows Explorer Program by right clicking on the start button, then you Select Open Windows Explorer (in Windows 7 Operating System) or Explore (in Windows XP Operating System).

You can lock or unlock the Taskbar located at the bottom of the computer desktop by right clicking on it, then you select Lock the taskbar. Additionally, you can right click on the hyperlink or link in the web browser, then you specify opening the web page in the new browser or tab by clicking on the relevant command from the menu.

In fact there are many tasks that can be performed by the help of the right clicking action. Try right clicking on different objects to get more experience with right click.
